What a notary does<\/h3>

A notary confirms the identity of each signer, confirms they are signing willingly, and records the act in an official journal.<\/p>

What a notary cannot do<\/h3>

A notary cannot draft legal documents, explain their legal effect, or choose which form you should use.<\/p>

Identification<\/h3>

Every signer must present a current government photo ID. We may refuse a notarization if identity or willingness cannot be confirmed.<\/p>

Commission<\/h3>

Notarial acts are performed under a State of Illinois commission, backed by a $5,000 surety bond and errors and omissions insurance.<\/p><\/div><\/div>
