Ants
Trails along counters and baseboards usually lead back to a colony outside. Fire ants and carpenter ants need more than a spray.
Main risk
Nuisance
Signs to look for
- Lines of ants between a food source and a crack, window or outlet.
- Small piles of soil or wood shavings near baseboards (carpenter ants).
- Mounds in the lawn that swarm when disturbed (fire ants).
Why it matters
Most ants are a nuisance, but fire ants sting and carpenter ants hollow out damp wood. Spraying the trail you can see only kills foragers; the colony keeps sending more.
How to keep them out
- Store food in sealed containers and wipe up sugary spills straight away.
- Trim shrubs and branches so they don’t touch the house.
- Seal gaps around windows, pipes and cables.
How we treat them
We identify the species first, then use slow-acting baits that foragers carry back to the colony, plus a perimeter treatment outside. Most homes are clear within two weeks.
