Ceiling rewire & lighting<\/h1>

Flickering lights and a warm switch plate led us to brittle cloth wiring in the living-room ceiling. We rewired the room, added recessed lighting on a dimmer, and patched the ceiling in a day.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

The living-room lights flickered, and one switch plate was warm to the touch. The homeowner was worried, rightly.<\/p>

What we found<\/h2>

The ceiling was still on original cloth-insulated wiring that had gone brittle and cracked near the fixture box. One splice had been taped instead of properly joined.<\/p>
